Day 26 (Español abajo) One of the simplest forms to show honor, respect, dignity and gratitude towards someone is to ask for consent. In this picture Ana Laura is explaining the importance of a lent series to members of the Inn Project before asking for consent to talk about an aspect of their experiences. When asked about consent Ana Laura responded: “Consent is the first step in any form relationship which is often skipped. People tend to assume they know better than the person directly impacted either because they dominate the language, are older, etc. In Proverbs 1:5 it says “let the wise listen and add to their learning.” Everyone no matter their age, degree or color can be subject to a teaching. Without gathering consent from someone you are abusing your power and taking part of an oppressive cycle. Here I’m asking members of the inn mate for consent to discuss their ankle monitors.”

Todos sin importar su edad, educación o el color de su piel puede estar sujeto a una enseñanza.
